usually I become inspired in October with a costume idea for Halloween. So far not a ONE has sprung to mind. Most my friends are usually in something fantastic. I am somewhat disheartened by this. I don't have the $ to go out and buy something and SCA garb is not allowed since many of the people are scaidians it doesn't count

I just got news from a friend that makes me sad.

It occurs to me that honesty is the best policy and when you try to hide from things it just makes them worse in the end, where everyone is hurt and friendships are irrevocably severed. Still something in the human condition will not allow people to follow the "honesty rule" as often as they should. I am worried how all this will play out, I shouldn't cause it will play out as it must.
Still....ARRRRGGG stop being stupid people!

As many of you know my Aunt Alice was murdered in 1987 and her killer never brought to Justice.  A nice man has stared a website to try to help.  There was an article done based on an interview with me, it can be found here: www.alicehawkes.com/auntalice.html
Thank You

The GNEW checklist going over and over in my head is keeping sleep at bay :( The autocrat stuff is all dealt with (for the most part).  I just need to get all my crap packed up tomorrow after work.  Still need to finish laundry, fold and pack garb, tolietries, meds  etc.  Oh yeah I also need to remember to paint the nails on my right hand.  I did my left hand Sunday night and havent had time to do the other hand yet :/

Relaxing evening.
Work was nuts today.  i really just needed to chill out.  [info]mollyrazor was wonderful and had me over for a visit.
We just sat around and shot the shit.   The Sox game came on and was going well, when all the  sudden in the 5th, the fail boat landed at Fenway and the 1-1 game went to 5-1.  I looked over at [info]mollyrazor as she cringed.  As I looked back at the TV "POOF" it shut off.  I was SURE [info]mollyrazor  did it with her awesome mind powers!  I started to laugh,  it was then she admitted that all she ad done was hit the "off" button on her universal remote with her toe ( thus why I didn't see it).  I still think her mind powers did it and the toe story is a cover ;)

I love ya woman!

Pain that never goes away. The loss of a loved one epically if they were taken by violence. My Aunt Alice was killed in 87. I was 15. She was a very important part of my life. There is a new web site about her in hope to stir something up for the cold case detectives. Please take a moment to visit the site and meet her. Then please pray to whom ever you pray to that this may be the the thing that bring her killer to justice. http://alicehawkes.com/
Thank you in advance.

The company I work for just announced they will be laying off just under 3% of jobs nation wide. I think I am safe but...you never know. I am stressed beyond belief. I REALLY can't loose my job. Since they announced it yesterday I have had a massive headache which leads me to believe my blood pressure is up. So if you happen to see me and I am not my usual sun-shinny self I apologize in advance. They said we should know in a weeks time who is going...shoot me now!

Good times at Birka.  I am having SCA hangover today.  So glad Monday is over!   I am very glad I got to see folks this weekend.  As usual I was busy and did not get to spend as much time with folks as I would have likedbut still had good times ;)  Hugs to all.

I love my friends. Tonight [info]mollyrazor invited me over to visit and catch up on her weekend trip to bardic. While there we started watching Man VS. Food. If you have never seen this show YOU MUST. This guy travels around eating the biggest, hottest and weirdest food in the country. It is a great show, it has only one drawback....it makes you freaking HUNGRY. So now I am home getting ready for bed craving, wings, cheese burgers, ribs and curry.

I am now drinking a glass of milk and going to bed. I am sure I will have weird food dreams :)

The first ten people to respond to this post will get something made by me!

My choice.

For you.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

* I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!

* What I create will be just for you.

* It'll be done this calendar year.

* I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

* You have no clue what it's going to be.

The catch: you have to put this in your journal as well. Spread the creativity around!

Today is Historical. Our 44th president happens to be an African-American. Amazing that our country could come together enough it elect someone "different" from the norm.
We should not be complacent! Racism still has a tight grip on many American's. Yesterday at work and angry man called in to one of our customer service people and demanded we get "that filthy animal Obama off my TV". It made me sad in my heart to hear such hate still exists but was glad for the reminder. We need to remain vigilant to keep such hate from overtaking our country.
Let's face it, unless you are Native American, you have no more right to be in this country than anyone else. So mr. racist hate monger, hush-up and let people be. We all are important to the strength out "OUR COUNTRY".

Well my first event as an autocrat is done. It was a good experience and there were only a few bumps in the road. All in all I think everyone had a good time. Last night was a big night for me in another regard, I was made a squire by Count Arlof.
I knew that he planned on my becoming a Man-at-Arms so when I was asked to kneel and he brought out a red belt I was floored...my dumbass actually said "that's the wrong color." My squire brothers laughed. I hope someone got pictures, it is all a blur to me.

Any how one event down, one to go. GNEW here I come. I am really looking forward to Co-autocrating with [info]mollyrazor .  WE are going to have a blast.

What is it with the Catholic Church and female anatomy?

The total opposition to abortion I can understand. The men in Rome believe that personhood begins at conception.

The opposition to artificial contraception strikes me as completely wrongheaded but not necessarily a guy thing. They believe that sex must be open to life and that life must arise through sex.

The misunderstanding of morning-after pills in their latest instruction to Catholics? Well, that's a bit ignorant. But even the average woman isn't familiar with the research on LH surges, luteal dysfunction, and endometrial damage.

On all these issues, I'm willing to give the men in Rome the benefit of the doubt. But then I read this report from the Vatican newspaper, via Agence France Presse:

The contraceptive pill is polluting the environment and is in part responsible for male infertility, a report in the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano said Saturday. The pill "has for some years had devastating effects on the environment by releasing tonnes of hormones into nature" through female urine, said Pedro Jose Maria Simon Castellvi, president of the International Federation of Catholic Medical Associations. ... "We have sufficient evidence to state that a non-negligible cause of male infertility in the West is the environmental pollution caused by the pill," he said, without elaborating further.

That's right: The new cause of male infertility is female urine. Specifically, the urine of women who are committing the sin of contraception.

Scientifically, the theory looks a bit wet. AFP continues:

The article was promptly dismissed by several organisations. "Once metabolised, the hormones contained in oral contraceptives no longer have any of the characteristic effects of feminine hormones," said Gianbenedetto Melis, vice-president of a contraceptive research association, quoted by the ANSA news agency. The hormones contained in the pill such as oestrogen "are present everywhere ... in plastic, in disinfectants, in meat that we eat," added Flavia Franconi, of the Society of Italian Pharmacology.

Perhaps it's a sign of the modern age that moralists feel obliged to associate their principles with health effects. Abortion isn't just murder; it causes breast cancer and psychological damage to women. Contraception isn't just a violation of God's will; it's an environmental toxin. But none of these health claims has turned out to be valid. And in this case, the claim is so perfectly consistent with the history of misogyny—blaming men's fertility problems on women's sins and fluids—that it risks not just scientific but moral discredit.

I mean REALLY??? WTF.
